ARTISTS > VULTURES
Coming back home challenged after attending to the first Ant-Zen Maschinenfest festival, Rani Zager (vocals) and Oz_Vult (samples, programming) realized that it's been a while since they translated their customary aggression to unconventional and extreme industrial music. Teaming up with long time friend Maor Appelbaum (keyboards, Bass Guitar, programming) and guitar player Gal Cohen, Vultures were set to sicken the world by the end of 1999.
Vultures started gigging just about everywhere and soon discovered that confrontation was the path for them. It appeared to be proven right as they gained an infamous reputation for shocking their audience with radical objects, sadistic stage rituals, harsh sounds, obscene content, and most of all, pure and honest catharsis.
After Maor released the album of his onetime progressive/darkwave project Sleepless "Winds Blow Higher" on Raven Music/The End Records on October 2001, Vultures finally found the time to record their first EP. Recorded at Maor's home studio, the EP consisted of three Vultures tracks and one remix by New York breakcore prodigy Datach'i. The EP was self released by the band, saw the light of day at June 2002, and received excellent reviews and feedback all over the world. Meanwhile, guitar player Nir Gutraiman joined the band adding a grittier and edgy industrial weight to the Vultures.
In April 2003 Fact Records released a Vultures split CD with IDM musician Aviad Albert A.K.A Finkelstein. This brilliant release saw Vultures' inherited tendency to experiment with sonic and terrifying sounds in the most provocative manner, as heard on their ominous cover version of Nikka Costa's classic "(Out Here) On My Own".
About two months later guitarists Gal and Nir went to tour Europe with their death metal band Lehavoth whose first album "Hatred Shaped Man" was released by the Dutch label Fadeless Records in May 2003. Vultures drafted Eran Segal from grind core perverts WhoreXcore to step into their shoes and maintain Vultures urge to perform slash and burn, while Lehavoth stayed in Belgium for more recordings.
When Nir and Gal came back from Belgium, Vultures started working on "Great Discoveries and Plasma Ticks" their only release for MOMT Records. "Great Discoveries and Plasma Ticks" is a fine example of how industrial can sound danceable, intense and intriguing at the same time.
Vultures split a few months after the release of "Great Discoveries & Plasma Ticks".
